Default Third Brakelight

Anyone out there know if there is an option to the third brakelight other than the one that requires you to put a plate over the middle of the rear door? I want to get rid of my OEM light and put the spare in the back of the JK, but cannot find anything to accomplish this with. Our state inspection requires the third brake light.

Do you have a tow hitch? Would one of those lights that fit into the tow hitch and wire up to your trailer wiring harness qualify as a legal third brake light? How about the ORO LED license plate/third brake light kit?

do you have a hard top? if so, you can probably by a 3rd brakelight kit and just mount it inside to it. if not, where were you hoping to install the light?

I would like to mount it to the hardtop is possible, and was thinking about looking at some companies that offer various lighting options, and maybe just pick on that looks like it will work. Warriror offers the third brake light kit, but to make it look right you need to purchase the center panel for the rear deck. I would prefer not to install this as I am not sure you would not get moisture between the panel and the deck, and it would just be a place for rust to start.
I guess I was hoping that someone would offer something like theirs but a little nicer looking. I check OFO but could not see anything they had available.

Check your local laws. Sometimes there are regulations on it's location, as in the center of the vehicle "X" inches off the ground, ruling out the hitch light. I'm sure you could do some chopping of the stock one, extend the wires and secure it to the inside of the hard top. Whatever your solution, please post some pictures.

Default Third brakelight relocation

Have you seen the third brakelight relocation to hardtop write up on the board? I did this mod a few weeks ago with a smoked version of the light you see in the write-up. Looks great with a black hard top.
