I moved my sensors into my soft 8's with 35's. Never had the dash light chime yet. Guess it worked.

Something those of you taking the sensors out need to keep in mind. As of 2008 all vehicles are required by law to have these, it is a violation of Federal law to disable them. If you plan on keeping your vehicle you will be fine, but if you plan on selling it or if your state requires annual inspections, your car will fail. I am sure that penalties will vary state to state but in MD the MDT has stated that it will be a $500 fine and you will be required to bring the vehicle back to code.

Just open the tire up and drop them in and air up the tire to 30+. All they know there's 30 pounds of air around them

Thanks for the input guys. I've decided to have the sensors transferred over, decided it's not that cool to have lights, bells and whistles going off on a new rig.

Another question on this topic. Does the computer check for all 5 sensors? If I swapped just the sensor on the spare tire over and kept correct pressure in it, could I air down the other 4 without the vehicle knowing it?

Thanks!

no. the number of dings you get is how many of your tires is low so if you did that you will get 4 dings like i do instead of 5.

Thanks for the reply. They should call it LAME instead of TPMS.

I had DISCOUNT mount the stock sensors into my new wheels.....They dropped the ball on ordering my spare so the fifth sensor has sat in the glove box for three weeks. The TPMS warning was on the first day I drove it and that was it. Dropped the sensor off this morning so they could get the spare setup properly.

dropping the sensors in a small lawn mower tire might work and might not. i don t know about the jeep but some vehicles can tell what tire is flat. i was debating taking them out of my stock rims when i put the 33's on. like said above it isn t cool having a NEW vehcile dinging and lights on in the dash. i don t like having the esp light on but that is well worth it!
