Default Pulled the front driveshaft out today

I pulled the front driveshaft out today and it was definitely the cause of the oscillations. It's really quiet and vibration free so it's staying out for now.

I also put an angle finder under each front axle C and both read 6degrees pointing towards the rear which is what I believe to be positive caster. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

So I think I'm going to get the ds rebalanced since it's out then probably end up getting adj. lower ca's. I noticed you can get ca's that can be adjusted while installed and others which you have to unbolt to readjust. What are your thoughts on each? What are the majority of people running here?

Thanks again

The Cams will give a few degrees of correction. Since they are already installed, you might just see if you can get rid of the vibes with them.

My personal preference is adjustables over cams or brackets, but you may as well see what you can do before trashing it all and having the holes welded back up.

The cam bolts are actually gone. From one of my pictures it looks like they are in but it's the angle that I took the pic at that's misleading. They are actually the oem washers and bolts.

Thanks

Definately have them re-balanced/checked. I'm on my 2nd Tcase and 4th DS, this is the first one I've got with no vibes at all up to 75-80mph, dont know if it vibes after that, I don't drive faster than that.

edit: stock one was rebuilt, then I got my second one.

Yup, it's way better to deal with this issue up front. If you can't effectively deal with the steering Vs vibration compromise you'll be fixing Tcases.

Default Driveshaft is getting rebalanced

So the driveshaft is in the shop now getting rebalanced. If this does not fix the vibration I will be looking for some adj. control arms. Should I be looking for front uppers or lowers or both?

My pinion needs to be rotated up slightly to be closer inline with the driveshaft so I could either lengthen uppers or shorten lowers to do this. Which would be preferred?

As long as we get adjustable CA's before putting on a driveshaft, and make sure the pinion angle is correct, we shouldn't have exploding transfer case syndrome correct?

You are keeping the brackets also, correct? Either set of arms will work. Uppers are less expensive, and my personal preference would be to lengthen rather than shorten arms. The plus for the lowers would be having bigger, beefier arms down where the rocks are.

The problem is that if you set the pinion to where it 'should' be, your caster will be so low that the flightyness will be unacceptable. You have to find a compromise between the two that you can live with. My preference was more flighty, better pinion angle - for others, better handling, worse pinion. Decide for yourself.

Probably go with lower ca's first. That way you can correct your pinion angle and when you get enough money you could go for uppers as well and make the perfect adj you want. A simple enough fix would just be lower ca's.
