Thoughts on Rancho RS9000XL Shocks?
What setting do you run for 40? I have the 5000x's and I'm thinking a leaking seal has got the best of me. I'll probably be upgrading as funding becomes available.
I have run the Rancho 9000 series on a 04 TJ, 06 JLR, 12 duramax and a 2016 JKU.
These shocks are simply amazing. These do make a huge difference on any Jeep.
I'v been impressed on every vehicle I have installed these on.

I've been running the RS900XL's for a few years now and let me make a suggestion: While these are adjustable, they are not always going to be adjustable. At least, that has been my experience. The mud, sand and muck will get into that tiny adjustment mechanism and freeze it up. It's just plastic, so you'll risk breaking it should you try forcing it. So, whatever you do, decide on a compromise setting that works for all of your driving, then leave it there. For that reason, I advise folks that if less expensive Rancho shocks that aren't adjustable are a good compromise, don't think they gain anything by purchasing the more expensive, but "adjustable" ones. For the money you pay, that adjustment mechanism should have been better made.
Hey Dirt Hammer -
I put Rancho RS9000XL Shocks on my '11 JKU about six month ago. What a huge difference they made in the ride around town, and even better off road. Only wish I had swapped out the old shocks sooner, I didn't realize how bad they were. FWIW, I found the rear pair easier to install than the front. Great video.

I have 4 years and 45K on a set of 9000's. I followed advice on this forum and greased the adjustment knobs and also sprayed clear coat on the shock bodies. So far the shocks still look great. I do use the adjustments, I prefer a stiffer setting for mostly highway use and softer for off road. The only place I've felt the shocks can get overwhelmed is on sustained washboard roads.
