Default Thoughts on a Welded Winch Mount

Any thoughts on welding a winch mount to the bumper frames? Is there any reason why I shouldnt do this? Has anyone done this and have any pointers? I have been looking and havent seen where anyone has done this and I m just curious why. Thanks

If you mean welding onto the Jeeps frame behind the bumper, it should be OK. Depending on the angle the winch pulls and how think the frame material is and how good a weld you can make.

Soething tells me that bolt-on is a better solution, however. No one sells a weld on mount - maybe there is a reason...

I would bolt it on,Grade 8 bolts, then maybe add some extra welds in some key spots.Unless you are a certified welder i would not attempt this

I am not a certified welder. I was thinking of having someone who is perform the install but I think after reading the articles included a bolt on is just plain easier and maybe the safest bet! Thanks for the info
