Default Throttle body spacers

Hey all, anyone running a TBS? I'm curious to know if they increase MPG and performance as claimed. I already have a AEM intake and I'm happy with the bump that gave me, but would like to squeeze out a little more.

Default Yes, Improvement !

I have an Airaid throttle body spacer, and as with all my mods, I tested it by itself before used all together with the others. I saw about 1.4 mpg Not measured from the computer which is only a "Good Guess" but rather by miles driven and gas taken to fill up to the overflow point.

I currently run the TBS, CAI, and Jet Performance Stage 1. I got power I ain't even used yet. Gas mileage around 17.5 mpg city with rubicon 4door. Didnt really do it for the milage, but rather the power. Better mileage is just a bonus!

Hope this helps.

I got AFE, its the first midification to my Jeep. I'd say it made the Jeep run smoother at higher rpm.

I thought so much of mine that after I got it I sold it on eBay to recoup some of the cost of the intake.

as far as i can tell, it didn't do anything accept add weight and increase my rake.

Seriously though, i hand calculate my mileage (that POS in the dash cant do simple division), i tried it with and without the TBS, then with and without the CAI. I tried to keep my driving the same, and the testing in roughly the same weather conditions.

Did the TBS make a difference?

Nope, nothing, zip, nada, zero. Except for a slight whistle. I didn't find any appreciable difference in mileage or power, anywhere in the throttle. The CAI and opened up exhaust made 100% more difference than the TBS.

Some people have them and swear by them. I gave it the most honest, unbiased evaluation i could. My personal findings are that it doesn't do anything at all. But, that's just my own observation. YMMV.

I’ve seen a couple of posts where you’ve pulled out that 17.5 mpg city statistic. Last time I saw it I think it was attributed to a CAI as a single upgrade test. Now here it looks like it’s in concert with a TBS. It would seem that the only mod you've done that had a benefit is the CAI. I’m curious because this might lead me to believe that although there MAY be some gain with a TBS on a totally stock engine, as soon as you add other mods the gains are diminished. In other words the gains don’t “stack” they cancel each other out. If you read the fine print you’ll see that this is in keeping with the manufacturers claims “results are with a stock engine with no other modifications”

All that said; YES you could see a slight gain with a TBS as long as you don’t do ANY other mods; such as a CAI or exhaust system upgrade. Once you do a CAI you lose any benefit that the TBS might’ve given you. This is just IMHO

Not taken as a flame, no worries.

The 17.5mpg is all three combined. While that may not sound like much, before any mods I was getting 14.4mpg city.

The Jet Performance Stage 1 was the single most positive in my opinion. Yes, I think there may be some cancellation in the combination, but not 100% cancellation. I think in combination, I'm getting more out of it than with any single mod. Each one added a little MPG and a little power/torque in the low to mid range. Combined they add up to one freaking quick jeep.

You know, to each his own, but I will say this. Anyone who is local that REALLY wants to see what the combination added to a stock JK can call me up. We can meet at my house, and we'll take my mods off and place them on your unit, then let you drive for 10 minutes. You'll feel the exact same as I do now, VERY LARGE DIFFERENCE !!
