x2 on the Oil filter. I had to switch from a Motorcraft back to a Mopar filter and the noises went away.

This is my first Jeep and I just noticed it lately...it's pretty cold out now. Sounds like hydrulic lifters that need primed with oil. I might switch to full synthetic and see if that works.

Try either the mopar, wix or napa filters. I believe napa is a re-badged wix.

Napa Gold are made with "similar" wix components.

I use them

OK so I changed out the crap fram filter for a Motorcraft 400s. same thing this morning when it sat out all night in the 19-20 degree temps....2-3 seconds of lifter like ticking noise at first start up I will try some mobil1 and maybe a napa gold filter this weekend. I thought the ford filter had a better anti dran valve that would help my cause? dammit. it just makes me cringe to here the cold start ticking.

Like I said earlier, I used Motorcraft filters before and had this issue. Went back to Mopar filters and haven't had that issue since.
