I've thought about going to rope shackles myself. One thing I got in that $50-60 range a while back was a Bartact winch cover. It was another one of those situations I had a credit to burn and nothing I really wanted so I got one of those on a whim. Turned out to be a great purchase and I really am glad I finally got one.
