Default Tilt/fold pass seat?

I wished someone would come up with a better passenger seat option that would deal with the PITA clothesline standard option.

Would it be possible to get a tilt/fold base from earlier Jeep in and use it in the 2 dr JK's?

What about a swivel base? Years ago we had monte carlo with swivel buckets that made it fairly easy to get into the back seat.

The problem is that the air bag sensors are attached to the passenger side front seat track. However, rumor has it that 09 will have fold/tilt seats again. If that happens, I'd be willing to bet you could get the new seat mounts and retrofit your Jeep. Or, at least I would hope you could.

It's gonna take more than just the mounts. Typically the release lever is mounted in the sides of the seat, driver and pass. You would need a new seat and the brackets.

LOL!! Funny, I was just thinking about how my TJ seat works and was just about to come on here to correct myself. As mentioned, a new seat will be needed... unfortunately.

Of course that assumes it works like a TJ, etc. I've seen other vehicles that don't have the catch in the mechanism. The seat back can be pulled forward with your hand on the back. Maybe they can do that now. Who knows. That would allow retrofits without seat replacement.

I want one though. That's definitely the biggest hassle with the JK.

That's the way it is in my International Scout. It doesn't have a catch mechanism, but the seat is pretty heavy and it was built back in 1970.
