In my opinion the Cooper A/T3 is a very good tire both on and off road. It is very quiet, easy to balance and maintain balance. Good in all types of weather including snow. Click image for larger version

The other tire I like is the new Cooper ST MAXX. Click image for larger version

ID:	579265 It too has a very nice tread design, and is said to be quiet on the road, and very good in many off-road conditions. Here is a link to what 4X4 had to say about both tires.

Thank you to everyone who responded. It seems there are many good choices available.

While I haven't decided on the exact tire yet (though I'm leaning towards the Cooper AT/3) I have decided on the size: 285/70/17. This is basically a 33" tire, which is about 1" wider in diameter than my stock tires.

Will make a decision soon and place an order. Looks like I'm going to be paying minimum $200 a tire for something decent, mounted an balanced. Is it ok to keep one of my stock tires for the spare? I have one that still has almost new tread.

"The other tire I like is the new Cooper ST MAXX".

My dad just replaced his with a slightly larger size after the first set reached 100K miles and he felt the time was right. He drives 1000+ miles per week and goes through some tires. He runs them under an F 250 and pulls a trailer 3-4 times per week. Great tire. We were just camping this week with the truck, and the new tires did great. Wet and rough dirt roads through the mountains of western MD. Not major off-roading, but good trails for seeing the tires grip. Ran with out 4x4 most of the time and still didn't slip much pulling a trailer up the hills. The previous tires were the same thing smaller size and we've seen them in a lot of snow, and they did great too. I would say, its a wonderful tire. I personally went with a full blown mud tire. I don't drive my Jeep much or I would have went with a nice AT tire too.

I don't see anything wrong with keeping the spare as is. The minimal change in size won't hinder you if you need to use it. It's hard to buy a bad tire anymore. Biggest thing is proper inflation and rotation. Let us know what you decide on and don't forget pictures!

I wound up going with the Cooper A/T3 285/70/17.

Got four of them mounted and balanced with free rotations for $837.

AT are a perfect option for a jeep that drives more on road than offroad. (Mostly everyone with exceptions) at that lift size you can fix a decent size tire. It all ready depends on how much MPG your willing to lose, how common you drive, and what kind of ride your looking for.

The bigger the tire size the more your wallet will hurt every week. If I had to advice you on a tire I would recommend the MT- ATZ (well made tire for everyday driving and anything you may come up on while driving in different climate)

Thanks. Well, it is what it is because I already bought the Cooper A/T3s. They seem to ride great, and it seems like my RPMs dropped also. They look good too, and fill the wheelwell more than the stock tires did. I used my procal module to reset the speedo.

Not too worried about MPG, because I just started a new job that is *much* closer to home (old job was a 64 mile round trip commute, new job is 24 mile round trip). :-)

I have an 09JKU and these exact same tires. Great on the highway and in snow.

Let us know how the Cooper's work out this winter.
