Default Tint

I have a black 2012 wrangler unlimited and thinking about tinting the driver and passenger windows. NC legal limit is 35%. Anyone got any pictures of a jeep similar with tint so I can get an idea of how it would look considering my back windows are factory tinted and would be a lot darker then the aftermarket tint.

Your factory rear glass is in the area of 22%. Your back will be darker than your front as you stated but it will by no means look stupid if that's what you are worried about. It will tend to blend unless you are looking directly from the side as it is setting. I don't have an example for this. But I have 35% on my windshield. I run a tint shop so if you have any questions ask

This is a 40% film which puts it pretty close to a 35% net VLT. If you have any tint questions, I would be happy to answer. That's my business.

This is an aftermarket tint on the rear, but 20% with a 35% on the front doors.

Ok ended up just doing 35% on the front windows and left the back windows stock. Looks great. Here are some pictures.

I read on a thread here that you aren't supposed to use ammonia based window cleaner on aftermarket tinted glass. Is this bs or legit? I had never heard that before and the place I had do my hard top didn't give any special instructions like that.

Thanks.

That's legit. It can loosen up the adhesive on the film. Windex makes a special ammonia-free version and I believe invisible glass is also "safe for tinted windows" per their label.

Or you can do what I do and mix your own in a spray bottle. Use a drop of dish detergent. Cap full of rubbing alcohol. And fill the bottle with water.

I have 35% on the front and 5% over the factory tint on the rear windows.
