Default Tips and tricks for installing Rock Krawler lift

I know there's a thread out there already asking this, but I'm unable to find it. I'll be installing my RK Stock Mod + LCAs this weekend, after a month long back order wait on the LCAs, and wanted to get some tips for installation not mentioned in the install instructions.

It'll be going on a 2013 JKU, btw.

I've seen where somebody mentioned not installing the rear trackbar bracket because it over-corrected, but this was for a JK.

One tip not mentioned in the instructions is finding someone with a lift in their garage. Makes the install so much easier than using jack stands! Oh, and air tools!

From what I remember from my 3.5 X factor install was that the instructions were quite complete. I honestly didn't have any questions that weren't already covered.

And yes, I have a friend with a lift and air tools.

I'm pretty confident in my abilities as I have a garage with the proper tools, so I don't have any questions regarding the actual lift install. Although, it'll be a driveway install, so no hydraulic lift. :-(

I just know that somebody here had asked the same question and was given a couple of answers that aren't covered in the instructions, but I don't remember what those were. They were given by people who had installed RK lifts.

I have a ProCal to help me center the wheel, I have an air hammer and an air ratchet for those tight spots. Anything additional I should grease, oil, or lock-tite not covered in the instructions? Did anyone with a JKU not install the rear track bar relocation bracket?

I'll also be using 9/16" grade 8 hardware to help eliminate death wobble.

The link you are looking for is here: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-s...stions-270357/. I was the OP on it. I'm currently in the middle of my install this weekend as well.

Quick question: Is it better to tighten up the jam nuts on the LCAs before putting them on, or after? Seems like before would be easier to measure up, but then it's a pain to try to control everything and keep it from flopping around while you crank on it. Also, should I apply the loctite onto the threads before tightening it, or can I put it on around the exposed threads afterwards?

You will want to leave the jam nuts on the arms loose until you finish your final install and suspension set up. Once you have it completely set up then you will be able to tighten the jam nuts. Some of the jam nuts are very difficult to get to so it could require removal of the arm again. As for the loctite you should put on the threads and tighten it down. You can also add it behind the nut on the exposed threads if you want extra security.

Great. I'll measure them up per the RK instructions but then hold off on the actual tightening. I was worried about getting the proper rotational alignment on the joints so they would be perpendicular to the bolts.

Put loctite on threads before tightening the nut or installing the bolt in the threads. Loctite sets up with a absence of oxygen so putting it on the threads after installing the nuts will do nothing.

The only other tip I can give you is make sure you put your jeep high enough on jack stands, higher than you think so the axles have lots of room to drop.

The RK instructions will get you very close. Good luck!
