Default Tire balance??

Hey guys,

I'm running 33/12.50-17 Cooper STT tires and had them mounted on my stock Rubi wheels it took about 4-5 oz. to balance them. Today I dropped my JK off to have my pro comp 7189 wheels put with the STT's. Which these took 20 oz. to balance. Is this normal?

Thanks
Nic

It took hardly any weight like you on my stock rims with the cooper stt 35's I had. When I switch to the crager soft 8's, I had weights all over. So I would say it depends on your rims.

If they all took 20 oz, that is more weight than I would expect for that rim+ tire combo.

Did the shop try turning the tire to a different position on the rim?

With my 33" Km2's and 17" Black Rock Wheels, (1) took .25oz, (1) took 1.5oz, (2) took 2.0 oz, and (1) took 4.5oz I guess it just depends on the wheels and tires.

Thanks guys. I'm definatly gonna get a second opinion. The tires only have about 7k miles on them. I drove it about 150 miles since I have mounted them everything seems fine but I'm kinda nervous now that THUNDER said "something is wrong" soon as I get back in town I'm gonna have somebody check these SOB's.

Thanks again guys!!

I have 35 inch Cooper STT's also. When the Cooper tire store mounted them I had one wheel/tire with 16 oz. on it.
I had the off road place here in town redo them, with some high tech balancer that turns your tire and wheel while finding the best balancing point, and they said that the tire that had the 16 ozs. was bad. That is now my spare until I can get back to the Cooper store.

Thunder,
If the guy balancing my tires didn't remove the weights from the wheels from the first set of tires could this cause the need for all this weight? I know my tires aren't bad I just mounte them on the Rubi wheels in July. How far are you from baton rouge?
