Default Tire Carrier Options

I'm tired of the swing away tire carrier. Does anyone have this Hanson product?

What other options are available for a tailgate mounted tire carrier, besides the stock one?

I’m curious about the Hanson as well. I wonder if really takes the stress off of the tailgate???

Plenty of options out there but I really liked the Expedition One. It is simple, easy to use, uses one motion to open the carrier and tailgate, looks awesome, SUPER rugged, you can bolt jacks and or gas to it and most of all, it was easy to install.

Well, if you're not looking to get on that mounts to your bumper, I'd go with the OR-Fab carrier. Here's something I posted in another thread.

MANY Jeepers on here have it and swear by it. They have versions with and without the two gerry cans, and it will support a 37" tire. I recently installed mine and love it. Call Dave at Northridge 4x4, he's got great prices on these and seems to be who a lot of people buy from: (360) 340-0282

Pics borrowed from Dog Doc, thanks! Here's a big thread win many satisfied owners: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...ab+rear+bumper

It also has provisions to mount a CB Antenna and a High Lift Jack.

Your 2 best options would be AEV or Expedition One. If you haven't seen them function, checkout youtube. Also, if all you really want is just a carrier, then maybe lean more towards the AEV carrier that works with the stock bumper.

Just realized that the pic he posted isn't his JK. Now this makes more sense lol....

Do you want a new rear bumper or only a carrier?

I'm looking for a tire carrier that does NOT swing independently from the tailgate. Once I know what's available, I'll decide on the bumper at that point.

Then look at this AEV Tire Carrier thread. This carrier swings with the tailgate. Excellent design and rock solid.

AEV tire carrier and stock bumper. Has anyone done this yet?

I have the Expedition One rear bumper on my JK, but if I were to do it over again I would probably go with Aberle's Off Road rear bumper. I have their front bumper and would buy again without hesitation.

More info on the AEV solution ... Again this can be used with the factory rear bumper or AEV's rear bumper.
