Default tire choice

first off i am looking at putting a 285 75 16 on my 2010 jk , the wheels i have on it have a backspacing but i dont remember what it is , so would rubbing be an issue ? and next i cant decide on nitto terra grappler , yokohama geolander at go15 or falken wild peak a/t 3w. driving will be 90 percent on highway so looking for something that will last and on a budget. also considering a lift but it all is mostly for looks . opinions appreciated

Default Tires

Better selection of tires in 17 inch, wheels too. Unless you already have 16 inch wheels on it.

I have 16" wheels and ran Geolanders originally. They were the tires that came on my jeep when I bought it. Once I bought my 35's, the GL's went into my wife's Suburban. They were great tires and lasted a long time. I've currently moved to 17" wheels but only because there were more selection in the 37" tire range. If you are running mostly highway miles, staying with 16's will be fine. Look at Duratracs. They were a great tire and that is what I have for my 16's.

I have 35x12.5 15r cooper STT Pros on my JK. I love them. They grip great off road and are relatively quite on road. I've run Cooper on my F150 the past two tire changes and I have nothing but good things to say about them.

I run Mickey Thompson ATZ P3, in a 17" though. They are quiet on the road and grip really good off road. They were cheaper buy a few $ when I got them last year as compared to the ones you are looking for. I have about 21k miles on them now, and they don't show any wear.

Terra Grapplers are a good tire, ran them on my old truck and YJ. Off road they cake up with mud and it is hard to clean them out, which leads to winching. My bro in law ran Geolanders on his old truck, but if I remember they didn't last very long.

I ran some 35" Geolanders for 41k miles. They easily had another 10k miles to go when pulled off. Pretty quiet on the pavement. I ran them off road quiet a bit in that time.....had bead issues maybe 3-4 times....just slow leaks at the bead that would send me back to Discount Tire. That said, I air down pretty low and put the tires through quite a bit. They were on the jeep when I rolled off the lot. I probably wouldn't buy them if I was just in the market for a new tire. I got rid of them when moving to 37" Trail Grapplers. I like the Nittos much better.

the Mickey Ts are made by Cooper. so another vote for Cooper. I have the ATPs and will buy another set when these are through.

i went with Nitto Ridge Grapplers, they are awesome. Love the look, granted I have 37's but appearance wise they'll be the same.Click image for larger version
