Tire Fit Question
I"m new here and i have a couple of questions. i want to put 33" tires on my factory 16" rims on my new 2008 x model unlimited 4d. do i need a lift? how much?
what size spacers to fit the 33's?
thanks in advance! glad i found this place!

You may want to put on some spacers. I put 33's on my Rubicon and they were fine, except when I was turning on an angle. But, even then, it wasn't a big deal. they just rubbed a little bit. I put on a 2" BB and I have NO problems now.
Also curious, what if the widths choices are 11.5" (285/70/17) vs 12.5" (33x12.5x17) would they work fine on the stock wheels w/out the spacers? I was reading some old threads saying that flipping the sway bar links to mount on the inside rather then on the outside helps....Thanks...
it would probably be a good idea to put some spacers on, they run roughly around 350-400$. That a rough ballpark, i would put spacers on because if you are fully flexed you dont want to be rubbing
Spacers won't limit rub on flex, they help on turn, as all a spacer does is reduce backspacing.
You can also tur out the turn stop bolts a bit to reduce rub on turns.
32's are a stock JK size...and 33's only stick out another 1/2"...no lift is required. Witha 2.5" BB, people are running 35's on JK's.
As explained a bit more prior, spacers are more about the width of the tire rubbing inboard components...so, the wider the tire, the more likley the spacer will be required...and there are different thicknesses of spacers too, so you can select the thickness that works for you.
Hope that helps to clear things up a bit.

Spacers are about $100/set...so 4 would be about $200, not $400.
