Default Tire gearing

Hi, to start off I have a 2013 jk unlimited rubicon. It has the 3.6l manual transmission 4:1 t-case and 4.10 gearing for the d44's. now on to my question. I really want to go straight to 38" tires the first time. So my question is will I have to regear. I know it will be slower but is it absolutely necessary I really want to avoid it if possible. Thanks for the replies

38's require money, plain and simple. May get buy on 4.10's with 2012 but what else are your plans to reinforce for 38's

Your performance will suffer, but it would still drive. Lots of mods needed to 38's. Post your build progress, and happy wheelin.

Are you going to drive it on the street? If you are, your not going to like it.

Have you thought about going with 37's?

I say do it, see how it feels and regear down the road if you feel it's needed. Everyone is going to tell you that you'd better have some deep pockets for 38s which is true, but I say go for it!

Ok thanks for the help. I don't really have the money to much other than lift and tires so 37s are looking like the way to go

That's not much better. Have some axle reinforcement to do at a minimum. Sounds like 35's would be a better bet. Even then I'd recommend truss and gusset at minimum. Can be had under $250

What kind of axle reinforcement. New shafts? I figured Dana 44s would be plenty strong

To clarify I'm asking what I would need to reinforce for 37s
