Default Tire pressure

May not be a big deal but I was wondering what you tire pressure does. I have 37's and it fluctuates 5 to 6 psi for example they can be at 35psi when I park it but in the morning could be 30 to 31 then as I drive get up to 36 or 37 psi is this normal ?

Yep, totally normal. Air expands as it heats up (technically, the molecules have more space between them), so driving or a warmer air temp will both increase the air pressure in your tire. My 35's increase 3-4 psi while driving and more if the air temp increases while I'm out.

yes, it is normal for the PSI to change based on temperature.

Here is a good article that explains in more detail...

Always check and adjust your tire pressure when the tires are cold.

This is the first vehicle I've owned with a pressure system. At first I was freaking out about the pressure fluctuating all the time. Now I just ignore the alarm when I turn my jeep on. It's a fact of life with my Jeep.

The problem with running tires too low on the street is they will build up more heat. The flexing in the sidewall and contact patch builds heat that is transferred into the tires air. The transfer into the air in the tire is good as it helps bring pressure back up, but the much higher temperatures in the tire itself are bad for the tire and drastically shorten it's life by leading to tread separation and de-lamination (which you won't see until you take the tire off the rim) and accelerated rubber compound breakdown. So remember to set your tire pressure while the tire is cold, not after driving and heating it up.
