Default Tire Question

Ok so right now I have 265 75 16 A/T's

I have a chance to go up to 305 70 16 M/T (firestone dest mt)

My question is will they fit alright(no rub and not strain my axles/drivetrain to much?

I have the OME lift

I also have the X ...which would be 30 up front and 44 out back

3.21 gears 6 spd)

C rated tire will ride better. E rated is for heavy trucks and what not. That being said a lot of people ride D and E rated tires on their JKs and don't mind the extra stiffness of the tire.

How much height difference is there between the two? I would be worried about what effect the taller tire would have on power. Specially with them 3.21s.

according to that calc, there is a 1 inch difference in the two sizes....... right now I am close to 32's ...and the new size would be roughly 33's

You'd have a hard time telling the difference for a 1" tire diameter swap.

32/33 = a 3% difference in effective gearing.

So, for example, if cruising at at a given speed on your 32's...if at the same speed on 33's, the rpm would drop by 3%.

If cruising at ~ 2,100 rpm, a 3% drop = ~ 2,037 RPM

That's a 63 rpm difference...shifting down, to simulate getting lower gears for example, would drop you by more like 500 rpm or so, etc..

So, as its such a tiny difference in both axle strain and effective gearing, (~3%) its not worth worrying about.
