Okay so I am looking at getting some new Tires and Rims so that I can fit my TF BB 2.5 lift but am trying to be economical about it. I am thinking of doing something like this but am unsure of a couple of things....
1) Can I get a 17" rim with 4.5" BS use my current tires until they wear out (Stock Rubicon Mud Terrains) and then eventually upgrade to the 35" Goodyear MT/R without having a safety issue on my hands as far as rim/tire width?
2) Should I get a 16" rim and just get the new 35" now, also have been hearing that the 16" tires are cheaper in price and have far more availability?
I know that I will be buying new rims due to the fact that I do not want to run spacers on stock rims just to get me through until I get my new tires as it would be silly to be putting money into something I am not going to keep. I am looking at getting some steel rims because I can't imagine abusing a rim that I paid $$$'s for when I know the steelies will do the job and if they get horribly abused I can go and pick up another for $$'s instead.

16 " are cheaper thats what I went with.I would not get spacers for stock rims. You might wait and save to get it all at once and just live with the stock until they wear out.Just a thought I know it is hard to wait.
If you do the 16's and new tires you can likely get some money out of the stock setup. Paying to get that many sets of tires mounted and balanced is no fun. As for the other option, what width wheel were you looking at? I personally would not put the stock tires on anything wider that 8".

Hey thanks for the info, I saw you had it lifted with stock wheels as well, or at least thats what it looked like on the photos in your profile. I have the lift its just not on yet because I was concerned about rubbing issues, did you have any when you ran the stock rims and tires?
There is nothing wrong with running the BFG's on a new 17" rim with 4.5 BS. I think it will look fine and it's a great tire. I just bought the whole package (lift, tires, wheels) and it is $$$$$$$! But, the wheels were A LOT cheaper than the tires. I only went with 33's and heck, the BFG's are 32's. The only real difference is tire width and the 4.5 BS of some new 17's will give it a wider stance.
Good luck and post some photo's of the final result!

Well I was over at the tire shop and they told me I could run both the stock on the new rims and then upgrade to the Goodyear MT/R's. Unfortunately I didn't think to ask what the rim width would be but I am guessing it would be a 8 or 8.5 for the 35's and I know the stockers are 7" I believe
