Default which tire size? 255-285?

I have the stock SRA 255/75/17 on my 07' X. I'm thinking of going with BF's KM2's. I don't know what size to choose. Maybe you folks can help. I'm not sure if just because the 285's will fit, they will look best. Here's some info.....

I don't do much off roading but I want the the look of off-road tires.
I don't drive my jeep everyday but I do use it for errands and day-trips. (I walk to work). Some highway.
I will be doing some snow and ice driving in the winter months but not much or far and not if I don't have to or want to.
I don't trailer anything (but I might someday).

I'm wondering if 285's will hang so far off the stock rim that they will look bad. I do want a big bad tire but I want it to look right too. Thanks.

I agree with eisenjj, I would also suggest making sure that the tires you get have good on road and ice traction since you don't plan to wheel it. A lot of mud tires that look bad ass and are great off road will make you feel like you're in Tokyo Drift just in the rain.

Thanks guys...I'm thinking of going with the new Goodyear Duratrac's for the reasons you mentioned....better snow and wet traction and still good off-road capability and aggresive look.

I like the way the duratrac looks ( a lot) but most of them seem to be load range E minus the 15" wheel ones of course.

255/85/16's (aka pizza cutters) are slightly taller than 285/75's, theyre also slightly skinnier which works out well if you live where it snows.

But you have stock 17" wheels.

So my advice to you would be to pick up a set of 255/85/16's along with a set of cheap steel 16x8's and sell your stockers to recoup some of the cost.
