Default Tire size

Hey guys.

I was just wondering if it was alright to mount a 35/12.5 tire on a 8" wide rim? I want to get 35/12.5/15 but am wondering if it is better to go with a 315/75/16. I have to buy the wheels and tires.

Mounting a 12.5" wide tire on an 8" rim will be fine. It has been done many times. As for getting 15" rims it's a hit or miss. Some rims will give you clearance and others will cause rubbing on the brake calipers. For the rims that do rub, people have slightly grinded down the brake caliper for clearance. If you do a search there is a thread that shows which 15" rims fit and which one causes rubbing. If you don't want to deal with that possible issue you can always go with 16 or 17" rims...
