Default tire size

I have a wrangler 2010 with a 2.5inch lift with 33x12.50R18. I want to know if I would be okay with putting a 35" tire on it.

Depends on the back spacing of the wheel.

What kind of wheels does it have, or what wheel are you planning on running with the 35s?

The general rule is 4.5 in of back spacing or less, and 2.5in of lift if you have the stock fender flares.

My wheels have 4.75in of back spacing, I don't have any issues with running due to that.

The biggest issue will be having the power and gearing to run 35's. Fitting them is the easy part. I also have the 3.8 v6 and it's pretty week. I have 3.73 gears and the automatic transmission. I no longer use overdrive because it's useless. I really need to regear to 5.13's.

Default JK Wheel question

My wife has been wanting me to jazz up her 2014 JK 2D Freedom Edition with some 33" x 12.5" tires, bumpers, soft top, lights, etc.

I'm looking at the Zone 2" coil spacers which specify a 16 x 8 wheel size with 4.5" backspacing.

Will 17" x 8.5" wheel with 4.71" backspacing fit? After days of wheel shopping, she has what she wants in mind and is very particular....

Thank you for your help.

If you are not re-gearing the super chips tune makes a major difference and comes with some other handy features. I run 305 70 r16 so right about a 33" km2 BFG and the super chips makes the 3.8 drive able.

This has been covered at least 100,000 times on this forum. Try searching or Googling, surely that would take less time than joining this forum and creating a thread.

33's fit stock. They look ridiculous with a 2" lift. Do not lift her Jeep unless you're ready to hear nothing but complaints regarding the ride quality and handling. Yes that backspacing works.

The 16" rim is used as a minimum recomendation, since some 15" rims have clearance issues with the calipers. In terms of possible future upgrades to larger brakes and/or beefier steering components, 17" is the better choice.

Stock backspace is supposed to be around 6.25". A 4.5" backspace is the general recommendation for 35x12.50 tires, or 1.75" further out than stock. This moves the bigger tires out far enough to clear the frame/components when turning. But, since all builds are different, and measured tire sizes between mfg's are different, that's just a general recommendation, not a hard fact. A 4.7" backspace would likely be fine for 35's, and no problem with 33's.

BB - Are you saying 2" lift is too small and I should go with the 3 or 4" full suspension setup?

I think BB is trying to say that 2" of lift is too much for 33's. That's a matter of opinion. Here's a pic when I had 2 inches of lift and 33's.

It is a matter of opinion, but 33's fit on a stock JK and look normal. The stock JK tires (unless you get the factory pizza cutters on the cheap 16" steel wheels) are 32" in diameter. Most people run 35's with a 2.5" lift, as it looks proportional.
