Default Tire size help

Hey guys.

done a lot of searching and comparing and feel that the GY Duratrac's are my choice.

I plan on running stock 17' rims off my unlimited X, but the size is the part that is challenging me. The car hasn't been raised (yet) but I am more than willing to grab spacers. I use the car primarily for onroad/snow/abit of off road trails.

In my research 285/70/17's seem like a good choice. any thoughts? differing views?

thanks in advance,

Yv

a 285 would be fine for a car, but you drive a Jeep so go for some 35's

you're a MURDERER!

it's a jeep not a car. c'mon son!

33's are about as big as you can go. If you got some flat fenders or cut yours you could run 35's with coil spacers. It just depends how much work/money you're willing to throw down.

The 35s require at least a BB.

If you haven't read the Modified FAQ for Wheels and Tires, check it out:

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...74&postcount=3

The 285's will fit with minimum rubbing, if any at all.

Those tires are roughly equivalent to a 32-33" tire so they look fine on your JK.

The spacers will allow to run a wider tire.

A BB lift, or wheel spacers?

You've browsed the Wheels & Tires FAQ's, correct?

As the faq's indicate, 285/70/17 is about the biggest tire you can go to without added a lift or chopping the fenders. You may still have some rubbing, need to do some minor trimming, yank off the cheap plastic skid, bring in the steer stops a bit - or add wheel spacers.

If you are considering wheel spacers and new tires for the stock 17's, I would suggest you also look into 15" or 16" wheel/tire combos to compare prices. (then keep the stocks in storage or sell them as a set...)

Ok, he's only got 15 posts (and he's Canadian), let's leave the 'car' comment as a friendly jab. After 30 posts though, you make the same mistake and I come over and toilet paper your house!!

Welcome aboard fellow Canuck.

I've got 285/70/17 tires on mine and it will rub w/o doing anything. If you are keeping factory wheels you will need spacers and if you plan on doing anything off road, you will need either fenders or a lift (2" or more). If you don't, you will rub when you max your turns and just about rip your fenders off when trailing (experience talking now... haha). Racin, what lift are you trying to get rid of?
