Default Tire size reality?

ok so i was told in another thread that the 33" bf goodrich mud terrain km2 actually measure out to about 31-32" when installed. I was then told, if i wanted a height of 33" i would have to buy the 35".

my question is this: I don't have the money to re gear and probably wont have it for at least two more years. can i get away with 3.21 gears and 35" km2's if they only measure about 33" when installed?

Here's my opinion, regardless what they measure "35's" are the same in everyone's book. Some are closer some are not. When you can fit "33's" they still are going to measure 32" or whatever. It's how they all are, so its an even playing field. When someone says "3.21 and 33s are okay". They mean "33's" as in 31/32's, not 35s that are 33s.

I wouldn't dare run 3.21s with anything near 35s. Lord its gotta be a dog!

Just my opinion.

exactly - the whole tire size thing is all relative and none of the tires out there measure what is listed on their sidewalls. you just need to operate on this understanding and not take actual measurements into consideration when discussing things like gearing. as goody said, running 35's on 3.21's is pushing it. it can be done but, you will feel a considerable loss in power.

good to know, thx everyone. i guess i'll just stick with 33's for now and in two/three years when i get enough cash to get gears i'll get bigger tires.
