Default Tire Size Recalibration

I bought my JK with the stock 29" tires on it and bought the optional 32" with 17's. Problem is, I can't find any shop that has the ability to recalibrate my speedometer for the new tire size. Should the dealer have the equipment, or am I forced to by the tool of the internet to do it?

AEV Procal is good option, not expensive and easy to use.

Camo_it_up,

There is a few different options you have when it comes to calibrating for tire size. You can look into tuners, which will give you the option for calibrating as well as some other cool things like electric fan control and idle speed adjustment. There are a few out there to choose form such as Diablo Sport, or Superchips. Depending on the year of your Jeep will determine everything that the tuner can do for you.

The dealer can also flash the ECU for you, but you will probably end up paying a ton of money for them to do it. Labor rates run anywhere form $50-$100 an hour. So that would be pretty expensive if I had to guess.

Shoot me PM if you have any questions!

Yeah, the dealer can program your JK for any OEM tire size. But you may be able to buy a Pro Cal for a few more dollars and do it yourself. I've read about some dealers charging $100 to reprogram the computer. You may want to call and get a price from your dealer first.

If your dealer charges, another vote for the ProCal. There are some very useful functions on it. If you decide to buy a used programmer/tuner, buy it local and 'try before you buy'. You want to make sure it is not still locked to the VIN of the previous JK.

My local dealership which I have a good relationship with said they cannot adjust for tires sizes that it is locked from the factory. They use hypertech or procal to adjust

I would think if you upgraded the tires when you purchased it that stealorship should program it for nothing so everything's working properly
