Default Tire Speed Rating

I'm getting a 2.5" BB and want to run a 33" all-terrain tire. I want a gnarly looking tire but with good wear that I can use as a daily driver. I've narrowed it down to Dick Cepek FC-II, BFG A/T, and the Mickey Thompson ATZ.

I really like the looks of the FC-II, but the 285/75R16 size only has a "N" speed rating (87mph). I don't plan on spending much, if any time at 87mph, but I see a lot of people running the FC-IIs on the JK.

Can anyone comment on how the tires hold up for a DD? Also how is the wear, chunking, balance of the FC-IIs?

Should I just go BFG or Mickey Thompson (they both have speed ratings of 99mph or higher at with that size)?

I have Pro Comp xtreme at and they are great for DD. My brother runs BFG at/ko and loves them.

First thought - it's a Jeep, not a sports car. If you are basing your decision on the highest speed rating, you may want to rethink your vehicle choice.

That said, don't worry about the speed rating. The FC-II's have been around for years. Good tire with a good look. I have Nitto Terra Grapplers on my Jeep. Good tire, semi-aggresive look for an AT, very inexpensive compared to the competition. Also running BFG AT's on another vehicle. No complaints with them.

If you like the fun country's - go for it! But get them for the performance and the look - Not the speed rating!
