Default The Tire/Wheel Weight Post

All,

I would like to start a post where everyone can post tire and wheel weights.

This has to do with the whole unsprung weight issue. For reference 1 lb of unsprung weight = 7lbs of dead weight. If your tires are 20lbs heavier each...that is a total of 80lbs of unsprung weight.

80lbs x 7 = 560lbs. Imagine how your Jeep feels when it is loaded with 4 other people... sluggish...

I'll keep updating as contributions come in.

Let's keep it within common tire and wheel sizes..ie 33x12.5 etc...

FIRESTONE DESTINATION MT:
285/75/16 = 47lbs (not sure why this is so light...possibly typo or it is 2ply vs 3)
305/75/16 = 63lbs
285/70/17 = 61lbs

TOYO OPEN COUNTRY MT:
285/75R16 = 68lbs
35x12.50R17 = 83lbs
33x12.50R18 = 75lbs

KUMHO ROAD VENTURE MT:
33X12.50R15 = 55lbs
35X12.50R18 = 73.4lbs

MICKEY THOMPSON MTZ:
33X12.50/15 = 56lbs
285/75/16 = 56lbs
305/70/16 = 61lbs
315/75/16 = 67lbs
33X12.50/17 = 63lbs
315/70/17 = 68lbs
325/60/18 = 75lbs

MICKEY THOMPSON ATZ SLT:
325/60/18 = 76lbs

I tried a similar thread to this a week or so ago, with very lame results...

I really want to know the weight difference between procomp x-terrains and BFG KM2's...in 35 and in 37.

How can I find this info?

I'll update this by request for specific tires.

Edit: I cleaned up my Photobucket site so this post is worthless now.

You can get procomps info from their site...and I found BFG weights on Tire Rack . com
BFG km2's
35x12.5x17 = 68 lbs
37x12.5x17 = 72 lbs

The 37s weigh 79 lbs. each. I couldn't find the weight of the 35s, as Cooper doesn't have tire weights on their spec sheets. I would assume the 35s would weigh about 5-10 pounds less than the 37s.
