Default tire width

This may be a stupid question thats probably been answered 100xs but here it goes. Will a 12.50 wide tire fit on a 8 wide rim. The tires i was looking at are 35x12.50r17 and the rims i have ordered are 17x8. Just wanted to see if the width would work or if i need something not as wide. Thanks

yes, they will fit. I think most tire manufacturers recommend a 8.5-10" rim but I have seen plenty of people put 35's on stock Rubi wheels.
What tires and rims did you go with?

Actually 8" rim will hold a tire bead for the 12.50 tire better in low tire pressure off-roading situations than a larger rim.
