Default Tire width and performance....

I am running tires that are 11.4 wide, I am ordering tires that are 12.5 wide. I know that off road this will be a benefit but I am concerned with highway manners as I drive 100-150 miles a day. Will I be better off staying with the narrower tire or will I not notice a difference on the highway with the wider ones. I am thinking wider may not be better in the rain and snow....am I wrong here, I hope?

I have 12.5" MTZ's and I have noticed a defiite difference in how much effort is required to keep in between the lines. It is likely a combination of tread and width. I like the look of the 12.5 but I am definitly thinking 10-11 next time. But if you really want the 12.5, give it a shot. I will have more floatation though, so it won't be as secure on Ice/snow/rain.

I would not even think anything over 12.5 if you are on the commute much.
