Default Tires on a 08 JK X

Would you have to make any suspension mods on a 2008 JK X to fit 31x10.5 with rims that have 5" backspacing? Thanks!

No. A stock X with the upgraded wheel package comes with 255/75/R17 tires which is 32" x 10.5". The stock wheels are 6.25" BS, so 5" BS will stick out slightly farther.

Your stock tires are at least 32 inches in most cases. Check your tire size if you have 245/75/16 that is 32 in tires.

Are they 15" wheels, though? A 15" wheel with 5" of back space won't fit over the brake calipers. 31x10.5 is a common size of 15" wheels, which is why I asked.

Thanks so much guys! Right now it's about as stock as it can get and has the stock 225 tires on it, pizza cutters! I will only have it in the city so no serious offroading, except in Chicago winters! But the 31x10.5 on a 16x8.5 wheel with 5"BS wouldn't need any suspension mods. Thanks again guys! This forum is great for someone like me who knows nothing and is trying to learn!
