Tires
Which set of tires would be better. This is for my everyday 2000 Jeep Sport with an automatic utilizing the 16" Rubicon wheels (the JK is to nice to take to the job)
1. Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar
2. Goodyear Duratec
I would like to go wheeling in NJ around the Pine Barrens or Stokes
note this vehicle has no lift I just like the look of an aggressive Jeep
Thank you
Happy Holidays

as far as tires.. i personally do not like goodyear. alot of ppl here have them and i am sure they will chime in. when i get my 35's ill be goin bfg all the way. you also might need spacers if u get to wide a tire. WELCOME MY BUDDY TO THE FORUM!!!!!

hey Officer Bern, welcome to jk-forum! regarding your question, i'm running the new mt/r's on one of my JK's now and have found them to be surprisingly quite for an MT, the provide amazing traction on the trail and even do very well on wet slippery pavement. i have not had a chance to try them out in the snow/ice yet. i personally would recommend these tires.

My personal choice for car tires is Michelin, for trucks its always been BFG until Goodyear made this new MTR w/ kevlar.
The old MTR's where Junk imho. I think Goodyear finally pulled there head out of the sand and started taking the offroad truck tire market more seriously..
If money is no Object get the MTR's w/kevlar..Both are good tires. I just think the MTR is a great tire. I drove home in a near blizzard last night and the MTR's where great..Cars where sliding all over the place as the road had iced up under the snow..The MTR's didn't budge.
You should also consider the BFG KM2.

Here ya go....Goodyear is the Number one tire manufacture in the world. They also have the lowest defect rate of any tire manufacture. They are also one of the leading companies in new tire tecnology in the world. Alot of independent tire companys have thier tires made for them by Goodyear.

I prefer Goodyear road tires, particularly performance tires, but when it comes to off road tires I historically have prefered BFG and Mickey Thompson.
It appears that Goodyear has finally come up with a competitive off-road tire with the MTR/K. I am planning to buy a set next summer.
If run a search for tire polls in this forum involving BFG you will see that BFG is a runaway winner almost every poll except one.
The only that is really close is the one against the MTR/K.
