Default Tires?

What about Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips? Any info?

The tires were tested by Petersen's Four Wheel and Off Road Magazine (May 2001 issue). They were rated outstanding in all conditions. They proved a good self-cleaning ability in mud, floated in the sand dunes, gripped the rocks and boulders, and gripped in the snow due to the aggressive shoulder blocks, deep siping, and wide open voids.
The tire also performs very smoothly and quietly on the highway for this type of tire due to the PJ tread design which is similar to a rib highway tire.

Four Wheeler (January 2002 issue) also tested the tires and rated them (on a scale of 1-5) 4 stars in the mud, 4 stars in rocks, 5 stars in sand, and 4 stars in the street.

For more reviews of Dirt Grip Tires see Bronco Driver Magazine March 2004, 4 Wheel Drive and Sport Utility Magazine January 2004, and JP Magazine January 2004.

I did think about this before. I have not found any one on a JK with them.

They are awesome on my friends full sized trucks for sure.

They look cool and would probably do well for a MT on snow and ice since they look heavily siped...but I haven't seen anyone on here running those.

My old neighbor has them on his TJ and loves them.
I see a woman around my neighborhood with them on her JK.

Good looking tires.

That clever center tread pattern composed of two rows of blocks in the shape of P's and J's will probably provide a smooth road ride, but won't do much for traction in snow in mud.

However the aggressive blocks on the edges will help cut through the loose stuff. My concern would be the noise the produce. Those blocks look like they are very regularly spaced which is the perfect formula for a growling saw noise.

Must of been worn uneven or something like that, not sure. Only set I have seen and heard, so I have nothing to compare them to.

Just look at the dates you are referencing. They may have been fine in that time period given the available options, but there are much better options available today. PJ as a company is just a shadow of what it used to be a decade ago.
