Default Tires?

Just got an 09 jku and its completely stock. Im looking to upgrade the wheels and tires. I want to run 17" procomp 7005 and 33x12.50x17 tires, any suggestions on what tires to get? I definitely do more on-road than off-road driving, but want an aggressive looking tire that's not too noisy. Thanks!

Goodyear Duratracs are great tires according to most everyone on the Forum that has owned them..

I have had three sets of Nitto Terra Grapplers that I like very much but they might not look aggressive enough for you.

Check out Discount Tire Direct. They are a sponsor and usually offer forum discounts

The metric size you are looking for in a 33 is 285/75/17 or 295/70/17

Just a note that you should expect some pretty decent loss of performance from moving up to nearly a 34" diameter tire on an 09 with the automatic if that is of importance to you. You may want to check into what gear ratio your axles have. They will be 3.21 or 3.73.

I recently got a set of FalkenRocky Mountains 295/70/17. They may not be aggressive enough for the look you want, but they are quite, Handel well on the road and have done good on sole trails so far.

I have a set of the Toyo Open Country (35") and love them. Not as sticky as the DC's I had on there before but the drivability on the highway is great!

Those sizes are closer to 34", and 285/70R17 more akin to a "33"". I wish the selection of tires were greater in those two sizes you mentioned, they fall the closest to my ideal as I don't need a 12.5" wide tire.

I have 295/70/17 Nitto Trial Grapplers with XD Addicts. No lift. I even do mudding and don't get any rub! They look very aggressive and not loud at all on road. Best decision I've made on my jeep so far. Got them from Discount tire for a great price. Here they are. Pretty much a 34 inch tire. The last picture is a before and after from the 225/75/16 stock tires to the 295/70/17 trail grapps

Is a 285/70/17 too much without a regear? I have 3.73 gears. What would you recommend? I want to be at a 33" tire. Thanks im a newbie
