Tires
I want to upgrade the tires on my stock jk unlimited. I still have the 16" steelies and 225 75 r 16 tires that look out of place. I am would rather just purchase new tires and i was wondering what size and kind of tires you would recommend. I am thinking 245 70 r 16, 255, or 265 of the same. I am looking to keep the stock rims right now and then buy new crager (black) ones in a few months. Also does the cold air intake make much of a difference?
thanks again i love all the help i get in this forum.

spend what you want on what you want...
BUT....
I stumbled across a full set of 5 Rubi wheels/tires (32 BFG M/Ts) with like NO miles on them... in the "for sale" section, for $300 bucks.
hell, you cant buy 2 tires for that...! (well, maybe you could, but not good MTs)
and rims too...
i'm not too proud to wear used shoes (on the Jeep anyway)
food for thought.

ahhh.... and the fun has just begun.
just one piece of advise... if there are NO other tracks through an area, and your "not sure" whats ahead... (while on a trail or whatever)...
get out, and walk up to check it out, before you go barrelling off a cliff or into a ditch.
jeeps are tough, but they are not TANKS... you CAN get in a big mess in a hurry if you dont pay attention.
Have fun with it.

You can find take offs here for a great price. Another trick to keep costs down is to buy a spare that is the same size but pretty used and put a tire cover over it. No one knows it's worn badly. Then you can use the money you saved for other mods.
yep, i got a great set of Shrockworks sliders for "way cheap" from a member on here. AND, didnt have to pay shipping or wait 6-8 weeks for them to show up, just cause he was modding to a long arm kit and couldnt use them.
so.... there are DEALS to be had in the "slightly used" jeep stuff...
and you save up for the good stuff you want to buy new, like a winch or something where you want to know its in good shape.

As for the intake, I have the Airaid. It has definitely improved throttle response in the "dead spot", but it's not a miracle cure either. I have not had any noticeable improvement in fuel economy that some claim to see.
