Default Tires

I'm gonna put some 285/75R16's on my 07 JK, I was gonna put them on the stock steel wheels, will they fit without rubbing if I dont have a lift, or am I gonna need wheel spacers or new rim with less backspacing?

I was wanting to do the same thing and i called a couple of my local shops and they all said a 265 is the biggest tire you can run with stock suspension. but i think with some back spacing it will work because its the width of the tire thats the problem. At least i think thats right . I am sure if im wrong someone will correct me.

If it works let me know how they did it.

If you search on the forum, there are people who put those size tires on their jeep without rubbing. I am fixing to do the same...

no two tires made by different manufacturers will measure up the same. having said that, you shouldn't have any rubbing problems running 285's. however, if you do, it will be slight and only at a full turn. this can easily be corrected by adding a washer or two to your steer stops.
