Default Tires: BFG's vs. M/T's

Ok, I'm considering new 33" tires on 17" wheels and I'm looking at the following tires and I am wondering if anybody could chime in on "Pros and Cons" of these tires. And as with most of us, I spend much more time on the highway than offroad and when I am offroad, I'm in Florida so it's mostly sandy.

BFG's Mud Terrian
BFG's All Terrian
Mickey Thompson ATZ
Mickey Thompson MTZ

All is 33" w/ 17" wheels.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat with you on this one. I'd like to add one other question though... how are the BFG AT's in mud?

Default Pro-Comp

Pro-Comp Extreme M/T Hands Down

Quiet on Highway, great in mud and sand.

Best tires that I have ever owned...

Hey guys...anyone run the Hankook RT03's on thier JK? I have them on my lifted silverado in a 315 and they are awesome. Had them on a 4000KM drive a couple of weeks ago and you know they are there...but they are quieter then the BFG MT's I have on my jeep.

I couldn't wait and put a set of 265's on my jeep. Now I'm listing (lifting...sorry) it and gotta get a new set. Is anyone running 315's on a JK with a 2" BB? Just curious?

I had a set of the AT's on my TJ and I thought that they worked well. I also remember reading a tire test in one of the 4 wheeling magazines and they said that to thier surprise, the AT's performed "almost" as good in the mud as the MT's did. I was all set to get a set of the MT"S but I really don't want a load tire so I am "leaning" towards the MT ATZ's.

I was running a set of them in 315 on mine with a 3" lift. Pretty nice tires. I have now upped to 37's and stuck with them due to the great price I get on them. My OPINION is that they are a good compromise between an AT and a more aggressive mud tire.

I don't know your financial status, but if you have the dough consider Interco Super Swamper SSR tires. If not, I just ordered a set of MTZ for my JK which will be 95% road use. They are a little softer than the BFG MT and are already siped. The BFG Mall Terrains are great for picking up chicks at the mall though.

The siping will help on-road in wet and snowy conditions too depending on where you live. I had BFG-MT on one of my previous jeeps and when the lugs packed with snow they were like running slicks in the snow.

If your two priorities are highway and sand, go with the BFG ATs. Great in sand and fantastic wear life. If mud is in your future, go with the MTZs, or the Hankooks
