I'm waiting on my stt pro to get here. I plan on running them at about 25-28 psi. I don't believe the difference to E will be noticeable. I've run C and D, maybe even an E before and they all ride like mud tires.

The stiffer sidewalls of E tires are definitely felt, as a Jeeps' weight isn't enough to properly bend them. They don't comply enough on trails, and give unpleasant stiff ride.
I also feel a clear difference between C and D on similar Jeeps.

Thanks, I tend to over think things...so after wasting alot of my work day searching this subject and the tires in question....I finally made an impulse decision and went with the 315/70R17 Nitto Trail Grappler M/T's (D Range). Best I can tell, they should look pretty good with the 3.5" rk lift and also function great. 3-7days shipping....should put them here sometime late next week I think...and since I am planning to install the lift Tuesday night-thurs night, should be about right on timing.

Yes, the E are less effective. You air down in order to increase the area of the tread on the sand, but the stiff E sidewalls allow less 'squat'. They need a heavier load than a Jeep to bulge out.
The softer D sidewalls allow more 'squat', resulting in a larger contact area on the ground.

I've gone from the toyo mt 37x1350r17 E load to toyo mt 40x1350r17 C load and the ride is much smoother/softer. Granted I also changed from BDS springs and fox shocks to evo bolt on coilovers. The change all around was drastic. I no longer dread pot holes or any bumps for that matter. Most aren't even felt

I run E rated tires on my JK, and I think they run fine. Not rough or anything, very smooth. Only bad part is when I air down to 10 lbs, they still are not bulging at all, they still look fully inflated.

I also run the AEV 2.5" kit and it rides so much better than stock. I think the springs and shocks absorb so much of the rough ride. So an E tire on stock suspension might ride really bad, not sure because I put the tires on after the lift.

There is no benefit to buying tires rated for a lot more weight than your Jeep will put on them, and some of the disadvantages of too heavy a tire rating are discussed above. The factory C rated Rubicon tires do have 3 ply sidewalls, and that helps in rocks, etc. vs. 2 ply sidewalls.
