Start here, We know you have an X. Did you get the tow package? Auto or manual tranny? I am sure the gear ratio you have is also on your window sticker if you still have it around.

Welcome to the site.

Eitherway I would think that 33's with a 4" lift will look a little wierd and unbalanced

I'm running 35s with 4.10 gears and have no issues.

I got the Jeep used, so I'm not sure on Tow Package, but it has an automatic transmission. As for looking odd, this guy (http://my.project-jk.com/showgallery...500&ppuser=831) has a setup similar and I don't think it looks bad.

I heard the engine can't pull 35" tires well and I was wondering if there was any truth to this.
It's not the engine that would be the problem, it's the gear ratio.

I have 3.73 gears in my X, and I run 35x12.50 tires...with an auto. It's fine. Don't get me wrong, I plan on regearing down the road, but I don't mind how it drives for right now. It's a Jeep, it's not made to do stop-light racing and 100mph on the highway. I simply turn off the overdrive every time I get in the Jeep. If I happen to be on the highway, I will turn the overdrive back on once I hit around 65mph. With the overdrive off below 65mph, it drives fine. The RPM's run 1600-2200 between 45mph-65mph, and that works for me. Everything else is city driving, and the gears don't matter too much around here for city driving. And with the overdrive off, it shifts the same amount as it did when it was stock...not shifting to much in other words. If you have a stick, I should think the same would apply using, or not using, 6th gear, just like I hardly ever use my overdrive.

What kind of mileage do you get with 35s compared to 33s?
