Default toe-in

I just put my new wheels and tires on last week and i have a vibration. I did all the self alignment that i can and still have it. I plan to go get an alignment this week. I know i am supposed to have 0-1/8 inch toe-in for 35's. Do you guys usually request that amount of toe-in or just let them do the alignment on their own? I dont have adjustable control arms and did not install the cam bolts either. I know the castor angle is off but i really dont think that is the issue. I just get minor steering wheel shake and feeel a stight wobble at 40-50 mph.

actually, you shouldn't need to adjust your toe at all. the vibrations you have are most likely caused by your tires not being balanced. this is a common problem with larger off road tires and needing them to get balanced more than once is not uncommon.

BTW, if you did not install cam bolts (like you shouldn't) or have adjustable control arms, there is little an alignment shop can do for you except recenter your steering wheel and take your money.

Nothing about an alignment will be the cause of a vibration.

i guess i will try and get my tires rebalanced then. i ordered my tires mounted and balanced. I here the trxus m/t is hard to balance and i am sure they didnt spend too much time trying to get it perfect. Also they only put wheel weights only on the inside. I have never had a 35 m/t that didnt need weights on both side.

yep, trxus are a bear to balance. when i ran them, i've had to take them to get rebalanced 2-3 times before getting them on right. also, i would recommend that you ask for tape on weights. they worked out the best for me and you won't have any issues with them getting knocked off on the rocks.

I had the same problem.......a slight vibe in my steering wheel at high speeds. Like WOL said, getting my tires balanced solved the problem.

A good tire shop should be able to do a "dynamic" balance and still use the stick on weights. I think it's the "alloy 3" setting on most machines... The weights will be along the inside edge and behind the face of the wheel. All the other post regarding this not being an alignment issue are correct.

Hi Motorhead! Tire balance causes vibration, an alignment issue causing pull, drifting and tire wear. When installing a oversize tire- good results on the balance can be obtained by running the tire for a hundred miles or so letting the belts ''set'' then doing a balance.
