Default Torn off rear DS plastic boot

Hey guys while out in Moab I was starting to climb a rocky ledge and my rear DS came in contact with a sharp rock and tore off the plastic/rubber boot.

Just wondering if I can replace just the boot or does Jeep make you buy a new DS. Not that I would

Can I just run it with out the boot?

I have done this and yes you can get a new boot and yes you can run without the boot. My dealer warrantied mine only because the service guy is cool.

Yeah that's what I thought but how long before not having the protection of the boot the DS is damaged

Obviously I drove all the back home from Moab with no effects but really don't want to buy a DS because I ran it without one

Dealer wants $60 for a replacement

Mines been off for probably 20-25k miles. All different kinds of weather, water, dirt, crawling. It's been fine. I think every so often it would be a good idea to shoot some grease in there, but I haven't and they've been fine.
