torque lbs question
Does anyone know how many foot lbs of torque I need to tighten the clamps on my afe hi tuck exhaust to the correct specs? I don't want to over tighten or under tighten.
Thanks.
Thanks.
There usually aren't torque specs in exhausts, you just torque it till no drips fall out. I'd say go 60ft lbs to start then bump it up to 70 if it still drips. That's how I did my MBRP and eventually went back and hit it up after a few months because of the expansion and cooling of the metal.
When a component manufacturer requires specific torque values for assembly they will publish it in the instructions, otherwise torque values are the same for a given fastener regardless of where it is used.

I understand that no clamps are going to be water tight and the water has to go somewhere. I just want to make sure that the clamps are tight enough. I tightened them to 60 foot lbs. that was a lot tighter than I had before. The accu seal clamps say to tight between 40-60. I went with 60.
Just want to make sure that a few water drops from where the clamps are is ok?
