Default Totally new and have a question

i own 2012 wrangler sahara unlimited. wanna put some new wheels on it. the damn quadratec mag has a pic in it with an srt style wheel. everything i have read has been negative, so i will not purchase the wheel, but heres my question: why can i not find ANYTHING similiar to it? it seems that almost every wheel made for jeeps kinds concave in a little. is there something about the way jeeps are built or something? i really the srt style, kinda hot rod like look, but there has be some techical reason why that style isnt made to fit a jeep. no?

The short answer is that typically they are trying to decrease back spacing (ie. moving the wheel out farther) to make room for the bigger tires we typically run.

Well i do want em, but heres the deal,(from what i understand), they really are not made for the wrangler. I would have to have a spacer, which i have been told is an bit of an issue. the pic in the quadratec magazine is a little misleading. they dont tell ya this stuff. when i went to the local guy who has been putting wheels on for like 30 years he ask me what the offset was. i didnt know, i call quadratec and low and behold THEY DIDNT KNOW. dude told me that i was asking an crazy question. i dont wanna screw up my ride so now im a bit hesistant.

The spacers are not an issue if you install them correctly and buy quality units. The issues people have are generally from not removing the brake rotor retaining washers before installing the spacer. If you want them, get them but make sure you get the spacers installed correctly. I have been running spacers on the stock wheels for two years. Spacers like Spidertrax, Alloy USA, etc... are stronger than the wheel bolted to them.
Now for the negative. I don't recommend this style of wheel if you do much off roading. The flush outward face may look good but will make rock rash much more likely. You will probably also need 35-37 inch tires to have enough sidewall. Strictly street driving won't be as big of an issue. Curb rash is still likely so be careful with who drives it.

I run spacers on my Jeep. Spidertrax torqued to spec with red locktite. They've worked well for my purposes.

I believe these are 35s. I don't do any off-roading really. I just dig the way it looks. anyone have srt-8 wheels on there JK ? - Jeep Wrangler Rubicon TJ & JK Forum – Tips, how-to, parts & accessory discussion and information

Yes that is a 35x12.50R20 tire in the picture. If you have a 2.5 inch lift you can run that setup.

Well I pulled the trigger and bought em. Guy talked me outta re Mickey thompsons tho. He said the FUEL 35s were a better ride. Hell they look very very similar so I went with em. I did have to order 1 3/4" spacers tho.
