Default Tow Bar for the JK

Hi Folks :

Does anyone know of a tow bar product that will fit the JK, or a quick fix to adapt one. I seen a picture in one of the threads showing the front bumper removed. It seems the tow hooks area would be ideal for this purpose.
I plan on towing the jk with the RV (Motorhome) this summer... can't wait!

any help is appreciated

cheers! :toung:

Any ideas on a dealer that I might find this info from ??

Have you had any luck trying to find any details on the mopar tow bar from the dealer? I've talked with two different dealerships and the 1-800 customer service number and have only learned that the dealership is clueless on options for the JK. All they knew was the price ($425). I want to know if this will interfer with an aftermarket bumper and skid plates. I think the only way I'll answer the question is to order one and look at it, then return it if i don't like the design.... But I don't need my tow bar until April so I hoping someone will post some pictures before then.

thanks for looking into that Jeepbozo.
I have only had one inquiry from Nota4re, saying that he is looking at manufacturing such a tow bar, has a prototype fitted to his already. Perhaps he will post his results soon? tks.

There are several choices already available.

The Mopar one... This is the one I have since they were available first. Also, this tow bar will work with the new AEV front bumper and the AEV skid plate. AEV states that it will work on their website.

Blue Ox has their brackets available. For this one, I don't like how much bracket is left on the Jeep. Looks to lose way too much ground clearance. Don't know if it will work with other bumpers.

Roadmaster has their brackets available (except for Rubicon model). I didn't consider this one since I have a Rubicon. Also, don't know if it will work with other bumpers.

My mopar kit just arrived. I haven't had a change to mount it yet but looks like I won't lose any clearance when the tow bar is removed. Looks like the mounts poke out of the front airdam about an inch. Also, it looks like the AEV skid will work with the Mopar bar. My guess is you pay the extra $100 for the mounts on their skid and nix the mopar mounts.

BTW I bought the Mopar kit from Whyckoff Chrysler online for $419 shipped (google the part number 82209758). My local guy quoted me a few $100 more for the blue ox and roadmasters. It's not as nice as either of those but...

Will be curious to see pics. I'm not sure if I'm asking this question right but does the mopar system use fixed length bars or is it adjustable like roadmaster or blue ox? Those ones are very easy to connect/disconnect since the car doesn't haver to be lined up perfectly and don't bind.
