Not really jk tech but I have a question. Bought a care 250 miles from home. Anyone ever thought about towing a car on a dolly trailer behind a jeep. 13 Rubi and towing a 13 Chevy cruze. All comments welcome that don't make me feel stupid. I have towed 5k behind it before but not sure about the length of tow.

You should be fine with a dolly. Just this past weekend I pulled a 6x12 trailer (15' overall length) to the tune of 2100 lbs behind my 10 sport. I've got that lame excuse of a 3.8l and 3.73's with the 6speed. I was able to hold 70mph for 5 hours there then 5 hours back home without issue.

I would have preferred to pull a dolly and car over the load I pulled.

This is one of those 'can you' vs 'should you' questions.

Can you - Of course.
Should you - If you can afford to pay out of pocket in the event of an accident, since it will give your insurance company an excuse to drop you on the spot...

But for what it's worth, I pull close to the 3500 lb limit on 10+ hour trips with my 08 JKU auto with no issues.

they won't drop you when you wreck your truck and boat. I called and no worries of accident in their view. The only time they don't like it is if you run into one of your own. So if your wife backs into your jeep, you are screwed.

Awesome insurance company if they don't mind you blowing past the max tow limit by 1500 lbs. Most other companies are just looking for excuses not to pay out.

so am I missing something? 13jkur with max tow is 3500 lbs capacity, right? Car weights 2960 curb weight and dolly is 410. That is under capacity. I do math!

The comment about the 1500 lbs. over was sparked by the one who said he has towed 5k before.

I pull a 2700 lb rv with my 2014 jkur regularly with a tekonsha controller and a weight distributing hitch and have had no issues.
