Towing camper trailer
Anyone towing more than the specified 3500 pounds for the rubi and how does your jeep fair? I'm looking to get a bigger trailer that the jk can still handle.
One point you may see in many of the other 'can I tow more' threads is that european JK's are allowed to tow about double what we can here in the US. So the issue isn't the weight so much as the legality. ie. how fast will your insurance company drop you when you get into an accident while towing more than the legal limit, and what is the first thing the cops will point at when determining fault? (will they actually nail you to the wall? No idea. Just something to keep in mind...)
My only advise is to think lighter not heavier. My X can really struggle with my 2800# camper, the slightest hill can be an embarrassing challenge. So much so, that I just listed my rig for sale. I need a real tow vehicle that will allow us to get out on the road for some long distance trips and not have to worry about our safety or if the JK will make it.
