Default Toyo open country AT

Hi Guys: just wondering anyone is running Toyo open country ATs.

I have black Sahara Unlimited with 18inch wheel and want better tires both on looks and offroad ability. I find the Toyo open country AT has LT275/65R18 which is excat same diameter as the stock. So it won't affact the odometer or rub.

My question is if this tire is much better ones than stock? Is it worth to spend $1500 to do it?

I also have the sahara unlimited and i am running 35X12.5X17 Toyo OC M/T. I really like the way they look and drive. For as aggressive as they are they are very quiet on the pavement. Each of the off-road companies I have worked with while modifying my jeep all praise this tire. I have heard some say on this forum it is heavier than others because it has a thicker sidewall. I will take a thick sidewall any day though. Not sure how valid that is. As for your situation-if your goal is to have a better looking and performing tire while keeping the stock size I would recommend physically measureing your current tire as well as the Toyo. A lot of manufaturers don't accurately represent the actual height. From what I understand the Toyo us pretty true to what it says. Again, I haven't verified this but I was discussing axels and gears with the guys at superior and they really like this tire and said it was true to what the manufacturer represents. Hope this helps.

not worth it IMO. Why spend that kind of money on something that you won't notice the change. Go bigger!

As good of a tire as the Toyo Open Country MT is the AT isn't even close to being in the same category for an all terrain tire. The complaints are minor, but tread wear is awful. Getting 25,000 miles out of them would put you in an elite group and plan on getting 15-20k out of them.

I've never had the Toyo ATs on my JK, but on my Dodge Ram 2500. I bought them primarily because I was concerned with noise and just didn't want to listen to the typical hum of MT tires. Only lasted about 17,000 miles and were subsequently replaced by the Toyo MTs. Not much noise difference, seemingly better tread ware and they adorn both the Jeep and Ram now.

I have toyo a/t 285/70r17 they are just a little taller and wider then my fatory bridgestones.I change from 18" wheels to 17" because 18s are a lot more money... The reason for this is the load range of tire . Heavier load range also means stiffer ride . I'm very happy with the toyo ! Have about 5000 miles on them, wearing perfect .

I went with the Toyo M/T's vs the A/T's as I wanted a more aggressive tire. A friend went witht he A/T's and since changed them out, poor traction and poor tread life. These M/T's really suprised me great on and off the road!
