Default TOYO: say what?!?

Okay, so I'm on Toyo's website, and I'm looking at the weights and sizes for the OC AT2s. I notice two tires, same size, one's five pounds heavier. Couldn't figure out why. They're identical in every way. Same width, height, tread depth. Both LT tires. The P rated tire in the same size was even lighter than the two in question. So I send an e-mail to them asking what's up. Here's the response:

Thank you for contacting Toyo Tires USA. The difference in weight is due to the different manufacturing equipment used between our plant in Japan and our plant in the US. Tires produced at our plant in the US use our new ATOM manufacturing offer slightly thicker sidewall rubber. There are no difference in performance due to the difference in weight.

352440 - LT285/70R17 121/118S E/10 - produced in Japan and offers white outline lettering on one sidewall

352430 - LT285/70R17 121/118S E/10 - produced in the US and offers black walls only

Sincerely,

Sounds like you should get the japanese version. Same tire, 5lbs less!

If you are on your computer, just highlight the blank space and you will be able to see the font. it is in white.

Interesting they would make the exact same tire different ways. Go with the lighter one!

Well, if they're saying they both have the same performance, might as well go with the one that is lighter, though I am wondering if you're better off with the US version due to the heavier sidewall and maybe wheeling protection.
