Tpms
I received my new ProComp wheels and Nitto TG tires this weekend. I installed them and went for a test drive. They are great.
In a tread somewhere on here, someone asked about the running of a wheel and tire package without TPMS sensors and I just wanted to report my findings. The warning chime, nor the light came on. Maybe it's because i left my OE spare on and the computer thinks everything is ok. At any rate, I'm pleased with it not working.
By the way, these Nitto tires and ProComp wheels have less balancing weight than any set that i have ever had. When I received them, I just knew that i would have to have them rebalanced because of the lack of weights. Not so, they are perfect...

the light/chime will come on eventually unless you have all five. However, most aftermarket wheels will accept the sensors from the stock wheels. you just have to have them switched out. its built into the valve stem.
Same here....I noticed it's also mileage sensitive. I still have my stock tires with the TPMS mounted & stored in the garage, so when the JK is parked overnight the (!) will shut off; but when I drive over the distance of 14 miles the ding & light (!) comes on...No biggie for me though...

I can live with the light.
Thanks
They may seem silly but the TPMs are life savers. Keep them if you can, they should mount to any wheel. A tall tire that loses air can flip your rig. I did a mud run a few years back with about 15 psi in the tires. At the end of the day I filled the tires to 35 for the trip home but mud got into the bead and let air out one of the front tire slowly. During the drive home I went around a corner at normal speed and lost control due to the tire having almost no air. I could not tell going straight. Fortunately there was nothing to hit and all was ok but if that rig have the TPMs it would have warned me.
is it possible to shut off the tpms system? It bugs me and I kept the sensors in my stock wheel/tires cuz I put most of my mileage on them. If not can you buy the tpms sensors seperately? Do they have to come from Mopar?
NM, you can buy them but they are way more than I am going to spend. I want to pull a fuse or something!

TPMS is the system that alerts you to low tire pressure.
The sensors are in the valve stems of your tires. They transmit via radio waves to the computer. If a significant drop in pressure occurs, (or if the sensors aren't there,) it trips a warning light in the dash and also chimes/blinks at you everytime you start it up.
