When I have my new wheels and tires installed tomorrow, do I have to tell the installers to put my TPMS sensors in the new wheels, or do they do that as a normal routine?

You will have to tell them. Also, if you plan on selling your tires and rims later you might want to have them put some regular valve stems on your original rims. I went without them only because the stem is metal on the TPMS and I have simulated beadlocks that were way to close to the stem and wouldnt work out. Also there is a TPMS service kit out there that is recommended to be put on once you take them off. I think it has a new Oring and nut or something in the kit. I just used my AEV procal to disable the dumby light.

You must advise them to install....about 125$ per stem if they break I was told.

I don't know what my options are. I could care less if I have them or not, but I received info from other forum members that they are required on all units from 2008 on. I sure as heck am not going to pay 125.00 a wheel to have them installed if that is what your telling me.

I've been looking into this as well. My local Discount Tire charges $15 labor per wheel to switch them over plus an additional $7 per sensor for the seal kit. The sensors can be ordered online for $40 each so I'm debating whether or not to order a full new set. That way I can have the new tires and wheels mounted and balanced without having to have the old set broken down.

I had 5 installed today for $12 each......that was labor and the "rebuild kit"....the only other charge I paid was $15 for lifetime balancing and rotating. Tires were mounted to the wheels for free.

Do just any sensors work or are there specific "brands" you would need to purchase? My biggest fear is dropping $200.00 on something that wouldn't even work as a decent paper weight.
